Focus on Lashes

As a beauty artist, you may gravitate toward certain procedures. With lash artistry becoming a must-have service on menus, you may be weighing the options of being a lash artist vs. permanent makeup. Read more to learn how lash artistry could be a viable option, or add on service.

Lash services

Lash artistry includes services like lash lifts and lash extensions. They both result in curled and thicker lashes that last from six to eight weeks. It means clients don’t need to use eyelash curlers daily to achieve a bold and bright look.

In addition to lash lifts, clients can choose lash tint to enhance the look. The goal is to lengthen and volumize lashes -- no mascara required.

Requirements

Many states require certifications for lash technicians. Even if it is not required in your state, we recommend getting licensed and going through the proper training since you will be working on a sensitive area and using chemicals that could be harmful.

There are lash training sessions that last 1 to 3 days. However, most people need 3 to 6 months of practice before they become skilled.

Go for perfection. You need steady hands, dexterity and excellent eyesight to be a lash artist. With so many qualified lash artists in the industry, there is no room for less than perfect work.

Calculations & Costs

There are good reasons to become a lash artist. Pricing for procedures average $75 to $135 per session. Depending on how many sessions a lash artist books, they could earn $2000 to $6000 a month. How?

If you charge $100 for a lash lift procedure and book 5 services a week, meaning 20 services a month, you could earn $2000. If you double the number of procedures to 10 services a week, the monthly revenue comes out to $4000.

Another benefit of being a lash artist is the flexibility. You choose the days and hours that work for you, whether it’s 2 days a week or 6. In conclusion, lash artistry is a viable career option if you find that it is the technique that suits you.
