Article: Setting Goals For Your Beauty Business By Kimberly Crider

Setting Goals For Your Beauty Business By Kimberly Crider

Do you have goals for your business? Not just a vague vision of where you want to go but tangible, trackable ways to get there. What are they? How do you define them? How do you measure success?

We have goals not only for the business as a whole but for marketing, sales, accounts, team members, etc. because having clearly defined goals is like having a map. Clearly listing out what you want to achieve or what your expectations are helps move your business forward and keeps you (and your team) accountable. But it’s not enough to just have a list of things for what you want because really, how exactly are you going to achieve them? Here are my five tips for setting goals.

If your goals don’t excite you, then they shouldn’t be a goal.

If you’re not passionate about what you’re going after, what’s the point? If you are doing something without a reason (and no “just because everyone else is” is not a valid reason), then delete that goal and replace it with something that lights your fire.

Set SMART goals.

SMART goal stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. If you want to be an Instagram Influencer and your goal is to “gain more followers” that’s not enough. How many? In what amount of time? What number is hard but also achievable? Get specific with it.

Replace: I want to gain more followers.

With: I want to gain 500 real, engaging, relevant to my brand followers within the next six months so I can grow my affiliate marketing business.

Create Clear KPIs

KPI’s or key performance indicators are measurable values that track your progress towards a goal. For example, a follower growth KPI would measure the number of new followers you've gained on a specific social media platform over a set period of time and compares that to a predetermined target.  If you want to gain 500 followers, how do you know you're doing it? If you break 500 followers down over 180 days, that’s about 3ish followers each day or 19 per week you need to gain.

Plan It Out

So you know you want 500 followers and need to gain about 3 a day, how are you going to do that? Daily engagement, contests, collabs, and giveaways might be a start! Create a clear plan and breakdown for the steps you are going to take to achieve your goal.

Be Flexible

Do you know how many times I’ve created a goal and had to adjust it based on what is going on or what fits where I’m at? Set hard but attainable goals and give yourself grace if you need to adjust.
