When you think of microneedling, do you imagine the roller with those tiny needles used at home? While effective to some degree, microneedling performed by a certified practitioner can target scarring, wrinkles and fine lines at a deeper level and improves more effectively.

Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with small needles to trigger the body to create collagen and elastin. The result is smoother and firmer skin. Microneedling requires little downtime and takes about two hours per session.

Who can perform microneedling?
Requirements vary from state to state. However, in California practitioners must have their body art permit from the health department. If you’re currently a permanent makeup artist this is a great add on service!
How is microneedling performed?
There are two ways to perform microneedling: manual and machine. However, we recommend using a device like this one and a needle like this. First, a topical anesthetic can be applied to reduce discomfort. Next, small pinpricks are made under the skin to stimulate collagen. Finally, serum or calming treatment can be applied to the client’s face. The typical procedure time is 1 hour.
Can microneedling be performed on anyone?
As long as clients are not pregnant, breastfeeding, have open wounds like acne, recently had radiation therapy, or have skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema.
What is the cost per procedure?
In order to perform a microneedling procedure, you will need:
- Topical Anesthetic
- Needle
- Disposables
Typical cost per procedure is +/- $20.
How much can I charge for microneedling?
The average price point for a microneedling session is $300. Most clients are recommended to attend 3 - 6 sessions for optimal results.
