An Interview With Niki Metz

We chatted with Permanent Makeup Artist and MEI-CHA Partner, Niki Metz, last month on overcoming challenges, the random, and advice for new beauty artists. Read on to learn more about Niki!

Tell us about how you overcome challenges? Failures? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

How did I overcome challenges? I never compare myself to others, I meditate daily, and I truly practice a "work, life, balance" attitude.

Tell us some random facts about you! Where you come from. What/Who you love. What you do when no one is watching.

I am Greek-American, and I live in Camarillo, Ca. Besides loving anything beauty related, I love to crochet, draw, and to go camping with my family (no tent camping, trailer only lol). I am obsessed with any beauty products that are "clean" Currently loving alo glow system luminizing face moisturizer, and Thrive Mascara.

What is the one thing that you do that you feel has the biggest contributor to your successes?

Being in Hollywood for such a long time I learned to not get sucked into the materialistic life of it. It is very easy to get engulfed into your career, especially that of the beauty industry. I am a pretty private person (on social media that is) and I want the focus to be on my work and not on myself, my clothes, or body. When you are confident in your work and proud of it, it should speak for itself. Listen to your audience, and keep your portfolio cohesive.

What is your biggest piece of advice for someone who is starting their journey in the beauty industry?

Try not to do too many services. Focus on one trait and perfect it!

Are you a new permanent makeup artist? What is something you’ve been struggling with? Let us know in the comments!
