Article: Being Present With Jordan Triche

Being Present With Jordan Triche

Jordan Triche, Houston-based permanent makeup artist, talks about walking in his journey and  what motivates him to  perfect his craft.  Read on to learn more about Jordan!

Tell us about your business! Tell us the nitty gritty details. What are you most proud of or excited about? How did you get to where you are today? How did you overcome challenges? Failures? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

I am most proud of being able to overcome barriers and stereotypes in the brow industry because of my gender. Hard work, commitment, faith, and resilience is why I am where I am today. I overcame challenges by practicing sunup to sundown, making sure to always be respectful and courteous to others. Failures always were self-inflicted incidents, so prayer, practice, and talking with like-minded individuals help me get through rough patches. Always stay humble and open-minded; the industry changes constantly, so you always have to put in the grind work to perfect your craft and to keep yourself on your toes.

Tell us more about you! Where you come from. What/Who you love. What you do when no one is watching. What’s important to you? Your top 3 favorite beauty products. We want to know everything about you!

I’m from Edgard, Louisiana, a small town 35 miles west of New Orleans. Monique West captured my heart like a still picture of Picasso placed right in front of you, so you know that moment in time became a still moment. When no one is watching I lay down and watch Netflix with the woman I love, but in the present moment I’m constantly thinking of ways to better my brand. Craftsmanship, precision, and consistency are very important to me. Permablend is my favorite pigment to use, Tina Davies is my second favorite, and JPro numbing cream is my best friend.

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, but the opportunity to enhance a woman’s beauty and to have the trust of them is everything to me. To have a complete stranger walk in your studio and lay down on your bed having all the trust in the world that you will make their brows look like they were done by the gods is the feeling of a lifetime. Having the opportunity for that individual to grab the mirror and scream for joy is worth the days of sacrifice to perfect the craft.

What is your biggest piece of advice for someone who is starting their journey in the beauty industry?

Open minds, clear eyes, and be a sponge. Absorb things that you feel are important and place them into your daily routine and create a better you. It will forever hold value.

MEI-CHA is all about community! We want to celebrate your community and those who’ve helped you along your journey. Is there a person, group, organization, resource, etc that you want to thank for their efforts, support, mentorship, love or encouragement?

I would love to thank @lashedByMehir for her mentorship and @browsbylinnie for always slaying those brows.
